Reposition sense of the knee joint in individuals with and without low Essay

Reposition sense of the knee joint in individuals with and without low back pain - Essay Example A summary of participants' demographic data is illustrated in the table below (Table 3.1). Concerning the differences of the data, it could be noticed how the given results reflect an almost the same liberty that presents how the demographic data affects the possibility of an individual incurring the definite reasons behind low back pain. LBP participants were asked to complete a series of questionnaires; Fear Avoidance Belief questionnaire (Appendix 5), and Modified Von Korff questionnaire (Appendix 6). They were asked to give information of their LBP in the past four weeks, in addition to the level of pain and disability caused by LBP. The mean average of the questionnaires are displayed in the table below (Table 3.2) As described previously in details, each participant performed 9 repetitions for each angle (60 degree angle and 30 degree angle). The mean error for each participants in the LBP and NLBP groups is represented the figures below (Figure 3.1 and Figure 3.2). As illustrated in figure 3.2 low back pain group participants tend to undershoot the target position in 60 angle, on the other hand, the NLBP group tends undershoot in the 30 angle compared with the LBP group (figure 3.1). The above figure 3.1 shows that in 30 angle the RE was slightly higher in NLBP, on the other hand, in 60 angle there were almost a five degrees error difference between LBP an NLBP group, since the later was more accurate than the former (SD 0.91). It could be noticed that the LBP and NLBP results into a rather completely same level of concentration. The changing of the angle experimentation was supposed to change the reaction of the participants towards the process, however, as seen from the gained result, the angle changes did not give favourably different outcomes showing that the angular changes probably entailed to have a rather important result to the research's aim of proving that these exercises could somehow reduce the possibility of low back pain among individuals from different bracket ages. 3.4 Distribution of data The average mean

Politics of development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Politics of development - Essay Example The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of population growth on development, and to show that overpopulation is closely linked to gender politics. Thomas Malthus, a British demographer and political economist, developed a theory of overpopulation warning humanity of the dangers of swelling numbers. In his work, An Essay on the Principle of Population (1999), Malthus argued about the negative effects of population growth. He claimed that the multiplication of humanity over time would lead to disease and famine by making natural resources scarcer, and provisions and remedies more costly. Malthus argued that because of the relative growth of different classes within society (primarily English society) and an increase in poverty, the moral order of society would be tested. Malthus used two overlapping axioms to explain his ideas. He argued that it was easier for populations to grow than for natural resources to support this growth; population, for Malthus, increased in a geometric progression, while resources increased in an arithmetic progression. However, he maintained, there is a strong tendency in society towards population growth. This tendency upsets the balance between the number of people and the amount of food available to feed them. This situation worsens poverty and increased the worries of the poor. As a result development is hindered. The Malthusian model explains, just by simple supply and demand logic, that when population increases, the labor market becomes more competitive. This drives wages down. As the proportion of food per person decreases, the price of food also increases. Therefore, overpopulation hurts both poverty alleviation and overall development of society. There were two solutions to this problem according to Malthus: positive checks and preventive checks. Positive checks were natural and historical speed breakers to population growth and came in the form of war, global pandemics, and famines. These checks had

EXPLORING ACCESS AND MOBILITY IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT Essay

EXPLORING ACCESS AND MOBILITY IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT - Essay Example On the other hand, permits should be issued to operators with genuine need to drive on walkways. The campus pedestrain system needs to be adjusted so that the functional image that the university wishes as a pedestrian-oreinted campus. This system will assist the campus a great deal. The plan establishes the college grounds elements, including the major parking lots that produce the highest level of pedestrian traffic on an everday basis. These places of highest utilization are connected to a key walkway system that features adeqautely broad primary walks. On the other hand, areas with the lowest rates of pedestrian traffic must be linked through tertiary walks. These tertiary walks will serve low traffic demand, offer essential links between building, open spaces, parking, service areas. The lack of shared-used paths also hampers access and mobility for students who come to campus with bicycles. These shared use passageways will accommodate both bicycles and pedestrains. They also w ill serve as key transportation corridors and offer an optional to on-road facilities for less skilled cyclists within the campus. Patterned post-and chain bollards may be used to regulate pedestrian movement in fields of open lawn, front lawn within the campus. ... The seminar, in addition, also expanded my knowledge about the symptoms of attention deficit disorder. Morever, I also learnt that there are three different subtypes of attention deficit disorders, including; combined ADHD characterized with symptoms of both inattentiveness and impulsivity; Inattetive ADHD, which is characterized by impaired attention and focus; Hyperactive-impulsive ADHD.1 Some speakers in the project also talked about the various disabilty rights laws that disabled people are entitled to. The disability rights laws ban any prejudice when it comes to employment. For instance, employees with fifteen or more workers are required to offer persons with disabilities who are competent for a position. This will then promote a spirit of equal opportunity. Organizing and paying for American Eduction Essay

Organizing and paying for American Eduction - Essay Example If we talk about American educational structure, we observe that initial education involves kindergarten, nurseries, preschools, and day care centers. Then comes the primary education that consists of grades 1 to 7. Then, the middle education is offered which includes grades 4 to 8. After that, high schools include grades 8 to 12. After passing high schools, the student enters the University for higher education. A typical American school has a principal who runs the school primarily, an assistant principal, secretaries, coordinators, department heads, teachers, librarians, a physician in case of emergency, and canteen operators. The American Government arranges funds for its education sector through taxes which give enough revenue to run the institutions. The taxes include property tax, sales tax, income tax, and prize bonds. The government provides general funding which is equally distributed among all institutions; and, categorical funding which the provider provides for some part icular educational programs. However, it is a big challenge for the government to show to their public and local districts how properly the revenue obtained through taxes is spent on education because often local districts have to spend from their own pockets for the maintenance of institutions.

Answer two questions about European history Essay - 1

Answer two questions about European history - Essay Example NATO was meant to prevent the Soviet Aggression on the European continent, as clearly seen in its adoption of the massive retaliation military doctrine in the 1950s. Therefore, NATO was primarily created to in response to the Cold War crisis that was developing at that time. From a different perspective, the treaty was meant to suppress the Germans, deter the Russian aggression and keep the Americans in. To date, the core function of NATO is to ensure that autonomies and security of member states are protected using political and military measures (Gray, 2008). Politically, the alliance works to ensure promotion of values of democracy as well as encouraging consultation and cooperation on matters of security and defense in order to establish trust hence prevent disputes. In addition, the alliance provides an opportunity for the member states to carry out consultations and make decisions on security matters at all stages and in various fields. In case of failure of diplomatic efforts in conflict resolution, NATO can carry out military operations to manage that particular crisis. The future role of NATO should be focusing on its political approach for peace promotion and conflict resolution rather than the martial approach. In the wake of terrorist movements, there is need for the organization to work hard for promotion of democratic values around the world. Otherwise it may not have a role in security and promotion of democracy in this era of new wars. The European Union (EU) is the political and economic bolc of 28 European states whose members of parliament serve a five years term before seeking re-election (Hix & Hoyland , 2011). Politically, the EU has its citizens who take part in electing members of the union’s parliament every five years whereas on the economic side, the union has developed a single market for all

What is Confucianism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

What is Confucianism - Essay Example Confucius, in his teachings, sought to improve the traditions and social life of humans. He emphasized on the ethics of conduct, which in his view is the ways of a superior man. He argues that such a man is honest, respectful and loyal to both his leaders and culture. The greatest of all, a superior man is considered humane towards his interaction with others. Hidayat at al. (2014) further explains that a society is organized in different relations: the government and its subjects, the family and the friendship aspect among others. The guiding principle of Confucianism is humaneness, commonly referred to as ‘run’, which suggests an outstanding behavior in reference to the China ritual norms and virtues (Low and Patrick 2011, p.11-127). It is an element of optimistic nature of humans, which accords that human conditions are not permanent but are bound to changes. Confucianism also records that humans are capable of learning, improving and perfecting their lives which is typically Confucian. It then recognizes heaven and its influence towards human events. Apart from its ethical principle, Confucianism has no definite ritual or practice to follow like other religions prevalent in China. It is mainly about interactions for the families, where members of the family show love, concern and the respect to each other (Low and Patrick 2011 p.111-113). Confucianism ideals are considered inspirational in that they aim at perfection. It is of the opinion that if individuals could realize their potential in creating best relations with others, they would attain perfection in their personality (Hidayat at al.

Rhetorical Strategies Essay Example for Free

Rhetorical Strategies Essay It is noticed that Margaret Atwoods every latest narrative story produce a fastidious enthusiasm as she has looked target on damaging expectations of the readers of what the narrative will be akin to or in other words the perspective. It is not correct in the case of The Blind Assassin that brought prominent Booker Prize for Atwood. The perspectives of the story in the Blind Assassin explode into movement with the provocation of the aspiration for a rationalization of the anonymity articulated in its opening verdict: Ten days after the war ended, my sister Laura drove a car off a bridge. (Atwood, p1) The Blind Assassin prompts its readers that a chief exposure will come as the rhetorical strategy of using perspective of this lengthy story by building a first-person description that make an impression on readers into a contest with Iris Chase Griffen to shape anonymity earlier than she depict the blameworthy gathering. Additionally, in view of the fact that Iris is creating a diversity of confessional chronicle, the reader is animated by the craving to forfeit concentration to the rhetorical device of perspectives which will join Iris to the lady in the story-within-a-story. Iris symbolizes herself as a historian, investigating the proceedings causing her sisters perceptible suicide. Simultaneously, the storyline must be cautious not to create the rhetorical device of perspectives of the clues so apparent that the person who reads misplaces attention by precipitately forming the responds to the mystery aspects of the novel generated in start of the story. The case of Laura Chases suicide is extremely dissimilar seeing from the start Iristhe narratives I who is as well its eye delicately converse the discern rhetorical device of perspective of both what origin the suicide and even who the offender is. The extraordinarily length of the narrative propose that it will be likely in the completeness of time to be acquainted with the reality, but simply by setting up what led up to Lauras abrupt end. The rhetorical device of perspective of the stratagem of The Blind Assassin is deposit in movement by its conclusion, a conclusion that guides to consider Iris is acquainted with the reality however will not expose until the appropriate moment. This is a narrative that a great deal relates to time and rhetorical device of perspective of the story, and about moment of time in the manner that timing is vital to knowing. The rhetorical device of perspectives toward which the story gradually guides could all be completed at the beginning well ahead of this extended story complete it. On the other hand, their rhetorical device of perspective of the truth would be reduced without the slow preparation for the climax. And with the reveal of the climax perspective it is suitable to revolve for a short time to a narratologist whose outlooks elucidate the reading of this story. The Blind Assassin appears to be self intentionally functioning in this male description concept with its storyteller who has a heart, to make use of that traditional expression, and who consequently seems to be contesting in opposition to the perspective of time to finish her storytelling prior to bereavement forecloses the prospect of supplementary life for storytelling. This fact creates a sagacity of deception for the reason that the readers know that Iris has to stay alive to finish the narrative, from the time when she is the solitary survivor of the disaster of a five decades previously. For that reason, the person who reads this narrative turns out to be concerned in the craving of this description to shift rapidly toward its ending, and nevertheless not too rapidly, for the reason that the climax may well be the climax of the storyteller’s life. In this approach the description appears mannish in the sagacity of sketching its readers into the perspective of contradictory requirements to hasten to the culmination and moreover tarry to extend the enjoyment of the narrative. The story makes coating upon coating of craving: the wish to know ultimately why Laura Chase suicide, a wish challenge by the wish of her sister Iris as storyteller to prevent that antagonizes for which in a variety of senses the cost is death. Additionally, it should be kept in mind that Iris is not merely a storyteller but also a writer, even though an unappreciated one. It might also be disputed that this narrative is itself a narrative, expressing description as an illustration of chronicle but also elevating some charming perspectives about narratives. Horror Films Special Effects and Cinematography

Horror Films Special Effects and Cinematography From our child hood we have been imagining ghosts and seeing imaginary things that are almost improbable to exist to give us terrific fears and these fears come to haunt our dreams. Watching a horror movie gives us that old feeling of fear and makes us emotionally attached to the film. The horrific images from the movie with its special effects and sudden sounds would make many watch them even though its scary. But almost all the horror movies end after balance is restored and everything turns to normal to give the audience a sense of satisfaction. The dissertation is based on the Study of cinematography and special effects in a Horror movie. In the recent past camera, lighting and special effects are of greater importance and fame, so it will be worth exploring those topics. As far as the technical aspect is concerned a brief research of how these kind of films are being filmed from the shooting spot itself, will be very useful for an aspiring artist to get a better idea about its development. Horror films go back as far as the onset of films themselves, over 100 years ago. Introduction: The researcher was interested in watching horror films from his childhood and he was deeply interested in these genres. In his childhood the researcher was very much impressed with the serial mainly called Genmam-X and Marmadesam. The drama that he staged in his schooldays with horror and scary effects as the theme was applauded well by the audience. The tremendous response from the viewers made him start learning the concepts and idea relating to this genre and finally concluded with this concept. It is difficult to show scary effects in screens. If the director gets his requirements from all the technicians the film will be successful, otherwise it will not. In order to get success the film must contain interesting characters and it also depends on their acting. And in terms of technical aspects the cinematography and special effects play a major role. In Indian cinemas, there is some response for these kinds of genre when compared to Hollywood. The main aim of the upcoming short film is that after seeing this, many people have to change their mind to see horror films also. So the main thing that the film should contain is better cinematography with matching special effects. Instead of concentrating on the story alone, cinematography and special effects should be given more importance. Aim: To give the thrill the viewer expects mainly the use of the camera, lightings and Special Effects, Were Script play the secondary role. Statement of the problem: The main purpose of adding the special effects is to frighten the viewer. When it goes beyond the limit it might not be watched by many people. In this situation it may go to another genre of hardcore horror. It may scare people but it will create some abnormal effects in the minds of some people. Objectives: How is cinematography in horror films different from other films? What are special Effects? How is Special Effects done in horror movies? A Study of the cinematography for horror movies. There are two interesting characters in this movie. One is the Frankenstein and the other one is the wolf character which was in the custody of the villain. The extra ordinary thing about the movie is that the CG In early days, man used special effects and later it got developed into visual effects. In this movie there are many visual effects shots. A few examples include the climate sequence where the ordinary man transforms into a wolf that is a quality CG work in the industry. Further there are many VFX shots in the movie. The main success behind the movie is the lighting and cinematography. Reference: Saw-4, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and cinematography by David Armstrong. This movie is the successor of the three early parts. The success behind the movie is the usage of the equipments and the method he used for killing others. In the first scene of the movie the villain killed the victim by tying the body to a steel bed and the axe was in a to and fro motion just above the stomach of the victim where it got peeled into many pieces. Website Reference: This Media Studies Factsheet was researched Written by Steph Hendry The horror films are not from this period. Those films were taken from the very early times where they only depend on the special effects and the camera tricks .At that time also some nice pictures came namely the Frankenstein a ghost which was made by a man by assembling many internal organs .This is the fact, that behind the creation of the ghost namely Frankenstein, is one type of ghost. There are many types of ghost that may include the external ghost which was having its own appearance and they will have some special characteristics. The Internal ghost is that it will enter ones body and it will do some thing inside the body of the character. This is the kind of ghost and others include the vampire. Mostly all the thriller movies have this type of ghost, there will be a character sucking blood from the humans and using them for their existence. They will be more like humans living with them but they will have some special characteristics In the earlier periods the ghost will be only living inside the cave and later the living area of the ghost also increased ,no matter where the ghost are living- it may be at school, it may in our home or inside ones soul no matter where it will be. So we can go to the place as we wish when going for this kind of genre. And nowadays time is also not a matter for the ghost it may come at day time or it may come when we are sleeping and when we are in dream. The only fact is that vampire can roam around the world during day times. (Reference: www.darkwebonile.com )accessed on Book

joseph conrad :: essays research papers

Joseph Conrad was born in Berdichev, in the Ukraine, in a region that had once been a part of Poland but was then under Russian rule. His father Apollo Korzeniowski was an aristocrat without lands, a poet and translator of English and French literature. The family estates had been sequestrated in 1839 following an anti-Russian rebellion. As a boy the young Joseph read Polish and French versions of English novels with his father. When Apollo Korzeniowski became embroiled in political activities, he was sent to exile with his family to Volgoda, northern Russia, in 1861. After being wounded in a duel or of a self-inflicted gunshot in the chest, Conrad continued a career at the seas for 16 years in the British merchant navy. He had been deeply in debt, but his uncle discharged his debts. This was a turning point in his life. Conrad rose through the ranks from common seaman to first mate, and by 1886 he obtained his master mariner's certificate, commanding his own ship, Otago. In the same year he was given British citizenship and he changed officially his name to Joseph Conrad. Witnessing the forces of the sea, Conrad developed a deterministic view of the world, which he expressed in a letter in 1897: "What makes mankind tragic is not that they are the victims of nature, it is that they are conscious of it. To be part of the animal kingdom under the conditions of this earth is very well - but soon, as you know of your slavery, the pain, the anger, and the strife. The tragedy begins." Conrad sailed to many parts of the world, including Australia, various ports of the Indian Ocean, Borneo, the Malay states, South America, and the South Pacific Island. In 1890 he sailed in Africa up the Congo River. The journey provided much material for his novel Heart of Darkness. However, the fabled East Indies particularly attracted Conrad and it became the setting of many of his stories. By 1894 Conrad's sea life was over. During the long journeys he had started to write and Conrad decided to devote himself entirely to literature. At the age of 36 Conrad settled down in England. In his famous preface to THE NIGGER OF THE 'NARCISSUS' (1897) Conrad crystallized his often quoted goal as a writer: "My task which I am trying to achieve is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you fell - it is, above all, to make you see.

The Benefits of FFA Membership Essay -- Expository Essays Research Pap

The spacious, mute auditorium is suddenly turned into a buzzing social center as the large double doors are swung open by thousands of enthusiastic young members of the National FFA Organization. Although the topics of their conversations may range from discussions on recent use of Global Positioning Satellites in tractors, to arguments over the greatest country singer of all time, these young people all have one thing in common. They are all wearing the blue corduroy jacket of the FFA, proudly displaying the FFA emblem on the back, embroidered with blue and gold thread. These members are standing in the center of Freedom Hall; the main auditorium used to hold the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. They are anxiously awaiting the first session of the first National Convention to be held in Kentucky. Amidst the sea of blue and gold, one member stands silently in awe of the multitude of people. The sleeves of his blue jacket hang stiffly at his side and the copper zipper shines brightly; both signs of a brand new jacket-- a brand new FFA member. His face looks passive as if he really doesn't know how to react, but the sparkle in his eyes betrays his excitement. This is the first FFA activity he has attended as a high school freshman. To the average person, the boy looks quiet and shy. However, a seed of strength is beginning to take root inside this young man. Through being involved in this convention as well as many more FFA activities in the young man's career in FFA, a world of possibilities is opening up for his future. Based System for Sales, Marketing and Customer Information Essay

We propose a new cloud based system that will compile all of the past sales and marketing information and current customer contacts and needs. This system will allow employees from all areas and locations access to marketing tools and sales data. The components needed to use the new cloud system are Clients which is computer hardware and software that relies on the cloud for application and other Cloud services. The other services could not run without the help of Cloud computing. The second is Services; this is a software system that is designed to support machine-to-machine communication through a network. Next is Application; this helps the Cloud in the software architecture, this often eliminates the need to install and run the application on the costumers own computer. Platform facilitates deployment of applications without the cost of complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software layers. Storage is the delivery of data storage as a service. Then there is infrastructure; this is the delivery of computer infrastructure as a service. All of these components are very important to the new system of cloud we are creating to better Riordan. The data requirements can be simply updated with a downloadable software update that will come with the program to make it simpler to install. The only things that will be needed while using this software are access to the internet and an external hard drive. The hard drive will ensure that it will not take up too much memory from the internal hard drive as it has a large amount of memory. Using the software is simple and easy to learn. It can be a little hard if one does not have proper knowledge of the internet. In order to be able to download this program the proper way without any add-ons of viruses, one would have to have the knowledge of the internet and to be able to download programs. The last thing that will help when using out software, is knowing how to use an external hard drive and how to hook it into the computer. The new cloud system uses more memory then our last version making an external hard drive a little more needed. These requirements will make using the software as simple and will help any company track sales and other financial information. Riordan would be able to manage data, text, and document management as a communication simplicity tool. As in any company, data is an informational asset that brings in earnings, investing in data management. Simply spoken, it helps to raise customer relationship management (CRM), while cutting expenses. This type of database will enable increased speeds for locating the products the customers want. It will reduce, considerably, the unauthorized purchases, and improve the efficiency in the operation, helping to also reduce errors in customer purchases. Part of the restructuring, would involve a need for Riordan implement consolidating software applications for all of the branches. The security of this software and concerns are the same as any software. As long as the company sticks to the policy there should not be any problems. We have made sure that this program is safe and secure. The data will be protected as long as the computers and users are safe with Virus protectors that are installed. So far we have not seen any flaws within the program as long as it is used properly. Any ethical concerns should be addressed to our company so we can make sure they are fixed and made sure that the data is safe and secure. This system can be used with mobile devices such as smart phones and any smart tablet. We have made this possible to help companies who travel a lot and cannot always be around a computer. We added this in to help make tracking a simpler step for all companies who use our system. Because the system as a whole carries far too much data for smart phones and tablets, we have created an app that can be downloaded with a smaller call for storage. This will help to not take up too much storage on smaller devices.

Jack Carlisle, CIO Essay

IZL is a growing financial services organization and there has been a sudden replacement of the CEO of the company. This lead the company in a state of turmoil and employees are uncertain about their job. Jack Carlisle was hired to organize the IT infrastructure in IZL. IT was not well managed in IZL to align it with the business strategy and a lot of restructuring was required. There was lack of infrastructure for applications as well as regulatory purposes. Physical infrastructure was not properly managed and people in the organization are not able to cope up with the growth in the company. IZL itself as an organization has many internal issues ranging from absence of proper business strategy to conflict amongst the business leaders. With new competitors entering into the market and lack of integrated business objectives with IT, the profits of the company have eroded and as a result, the stocks have plummeted. There is a need for the collaborative effort to put proper business strategy in place as well as standard operating procedures since the company has grown enough to be managed on adhocracy. Carlisle has been able to codify the management system and financial practices but most of the departments are not pleased with the â€Å"transparency†. Carlisle should try to get the business heads on board before defining the business applications for them as if they are not satisfied, technology will not be accepted. Moreover he was able to stabilize the current IT physical infrastructure. IZL has too many vendors and business volumes were not properly available to properly forecast the capacity required for the business. Many business areas go directly to procure a service instead of going through the IT division showing the lack of importance of IT in the organization. The business conducted over the internet has shrunk from 52% to 49% and since most of the financial service data was digital in nature, it could be very beneficial to the business. There is also lack of coordination between the sales people and the IT department. Alongwith improving the business and giving IZL a selling point, the conversion of business primarily over the internet will also help in integrating various departments. But all these plans were work in progress when Hansen was the CEO. But with recent change in leadership with Giles as the CIO, many of these ideas might not become concrete implementation. Giles’ communication has a lack of clear and direct communication which shows a lack of leadership as this could directly affect the future of the company. His employees are uncertain about what he thinks of them and are unable to relate to him. Furthermore, because of recent restructuring of human resources in the organization, especially with the key personnel being fired from the company, have created even greater uncertainty at a very sensitive time. This might show that he is probably not able to handle company transitions. The company is currently in crisis, because key personnel are not certain of their position and their future in the company Carlisle is a shooter personality who says things straight to the face which is quite opposite to the style of Giles who seldom gives comments on the situation. This might cause drift between the CEO and CIO which might not be beneficial for the company. Giles should take responsibility and properly communicate his plans to his employees to gain their trust and loyalty. He must reduce the uncertainty in the minds of his key personnel so that he may not lose any personnel he doesn’t want to. Considering the initial success of Carlisle, it would not be a good idea to let Carlisle go from the company. Giles should focus on designing a business plan which is suitable for the organization as a whole and ask Carlisle to design an IT strategy aligning with the business.

Marketing Strategy Analysis – SAMSUNG case

Marketing is the recess which combines both strategy and tactics in order to build up the relationship with customers and create value for both buyer and seller. (Definition of Marketing, 2014). According to Marina, B. W. (2007), the marketing environment nowadays has become extremely fierce and dynamic, a marketing strategy needs to be updated in order to maintain the competitive strength. An efficient marketing strategy is not only has ability to adapt a change in the market but also satisfy the customers' minds at the same periods. Therefore, there is no marketing strategy could maintain forever but should change at every different suitable situation. To do so, a company might have several alternative plans which probably promptly implement in necessary cases. Samsung Inc. Is one of the outstanding samples in term of successful marketing strategy. Samsung was established in 1 938 in South Korea from the modest company to the global corporation with the annual turnover of over $1ST 1 00 billions. Samsung has generated the business into three majors: â€Å"electronics, engineering and chemicals. This paper is going to examine the marketing strategy which Samsung has applied and give out lessons and recommendations in order to prepare for the future Roth. QUESTION ANSWERING 1. Question 1 Samsung was from the modest company, currently has developed magically to the multi-national conglomerate. Efficient marketing strategies were one of the key elements of Samsung success today that lead its brand value rapidly increased the most in recent years. As reported by Vietnamese (201 2), the brand value of Samsung in 2000 was approximately $1ST 5. Billions. Samsung subsequently expensed $1ST 508 millions in order to boost up its brand value over than $1ST 6. 3 billions in 2001. According to the data collection of Gregory, L. 2005), the brand value Of Samsung Was $1ST 14. 9, ranked as 20th while the first three positions were Coca Cola and followed by Microsoft, IBM with the brand values were $1ST 67. 5 billions; 59. 9 billions and 53. 3 billions. At that period, some competitors of Samsung in the market such as Monika had $USED 26. 4 billions of brand value, ranked at 6th position; Sony had $1ST 10. Billions of brand value, was as 28th in ranking; Motorola was ranked as 37th with $USED 3. 8 billions of brand value and Panasonic was at 78th with $1ST 3. 7 billions in the ranking. As we can see in the figure 1, the rand value of Samsung grew continuously and dramatically from 2001 to 2005 while some the other competitors had a slight fall or maintained at the same level. Table 1: Brand ranking by value in 2005 Figure 1 Brand Value from 2001 -2005 There is no doubt to confess that Samsung has gained a certain success in building brand value through those periods of time.In order to stand stably in this fierce market, Samsung has applied its strategies efficiently and distinctly. An efficient marketing strategy may bring success to its business but a g ood quality of products is what keeps the trust of customers. The more quality of the products are, the more loyalty of the customers will be. Therefore, Samsung has issued a very strict quality control policy. This is one of the factors that bring success to Samsung today. For example, any mistake occurs in its prod action process will be stopped immediately to fix in order to guarantee a good quality and high accurate standard.Based on the global strength, Samsung is flexible in gathering efficient international resources. In 1 sass, Samsung adopted cheap scientific experts from Soviet and hired them to work in the Seoul labs in the early year of 2000. One of the successful innovations, which is introduced at Samsung by those Soviet scientists, is TRIM project. TRIM project is the methodology which identifies the contrary of the existing technologies and the needs of the customers in order to innovate further ideas. Samsung has successfully controlled the products quality. This is the first and the heart in business philosophy of Samsung. Any business needs to understand the customers' perspective and places them at the first concerning. When customers make a decision to try a new product, they would expect a good quail's purchasing. And this is a chance for a business to keep customers' loyalty and increase the prospect of brand by customers' recommendation to their network. So if this was not a case, those customers would not come back and looking for other options. Thus, the quality control policy plays an important role in enhancing the customers' satisfaction and loyalty.Besides, it would help to contribute the long term prospect and revenue of company and avoid the risk of replacement cost of defected products. A company, which has a strong reputation in product quality, will be outstanding in the current fierce market today. One of other successful factors Of Samsung strategy is promotion. Due to different kinds Of product and different segmentations o f customer, Samsung has applied variety ways of promotion and specific channel in order to approach the market. The marketing mix up's strategy has been generated efficiently by Samsung. The company used strong tactics to pull customers to itself by providing printed brochures, posters, specialization sheets and public information on Samsung website, Samsung aimed to raise the awareness of customers. Besides, the activities to be the sponsorship in particular famous events such s: Royal Windsor Horse Show and Samsung Open Tennis Tournament. On the other hand, Samsung gave several interesting offers and discounts to their trade partners and dealers in order to push the sale of Samsung products. All of promotional activities are aimed to support a new product launching. Launching successfully a new product has never been an easy issue, especially it is aimed to dominate other competitors in current market. In asses, Samsung has done an exclusive research in DVD market and understand the problem occurring at that time in order to identify the opportunity. From that, the company could find the suitable way for its tragedy and satisfy the market demands to gain the competitive advantage. For instance, Samsung provided a DVD product with much greater data capacity and sophisticated features, but with the very reasonable price; or taking another product of Samsung is TFTP flat screen monitor, this monitor also provides a greater convenience than CRT screen. The TFTP screen is made by the liquid crystal display (LCD) with sharp displayed image can save a space of the room, lower power consumption and less harmful radiation. This is called the unique selling price that makes Samsung to be the leader in the electronics market. One of the elements of ups strategy is distribution (Place), Samsung has used various channels in the market from the dealers, retailers and distributors and gave free sampling in order to attract more the customers' concern. Due to different kind of product, Samsung has applied a different kind of strategy to approach the market. The market segmentation for the T FT monitors were aimed for business such as officers, financial centers in the city or fashion outlets, etc. In order to encourage the TFTP monitors purchasing from business, the marketing strategy needs to replace n order to adapt a change in a specific situation. The advertisements on this sector focused on potential customers who are business users. Newspapers and magazines were also used for advertising, especially the type of one-to- one advertising, mailing directly to the business users are effectively. Samsung was the newcomer in the mobile business sector in asses. Today, Samsung was ranked as the world's largest corporation in tech oenology industry in term of revenues. The way to do the marketing promotion for this kind of product still differs from the other products. The marketing research ND segmentation were exclusive implemented in order to understand the consumers' demands and segment the potential customers. Samsung still used newspapers, magazines, TV advertisements, media means and to be a sponsorship for famous events in order to raise the perspective of customers in brand recognition. The contribution is more focused on retailers and the retail staff are well trained to be professional. In conclusion, the marketing strategy of Samsung is a valuable lesson to every marketer.Samsung has sought a international quality of product and implemented several marketing strategies in trying to dominate the market. . Question 2 SOOT analysis of Samsung Table 2: SOOT of SAMSUNG Samsung SOOT analysis Strengths Weaknesses Reputation 2. Innovation and design 3. Advanced technology 4. Lower cost 5. In addition, it also allows Samsung to earn high return and diversify risks and failures. 6.Samsung was ranked as the top company which has ability to push the brand name efficiently and was ranked at the 9th most valuable brand with $33 billion dollars. This success is caused by the sponsorship in sport champions, social activities, etc. Weaknesses 1. Patents issue: Samsung had problem in patent infringement with Apple. Apple sued Samsung that the Samsung galaxy 4 and Samsung tablet copied phone and pad. This thing seriously damages to Samsung reputation and cost $1 billion dollars in fine. (BBC, 201 2) 2. Lack of its own SO and software: Samsung pay an intention on innovation. However, Samsung has never introduced its own new product with its own SO. Samsung focus on mass market rather than niche market when setting the price of the products at a level of average low. A general psychology of customers is to assume a low price of product is low quality. . Samsung has 3 major markets: Electronics, Engineering and Chemicals and each industry has a huge product which needs to concern. Thus, Samsung loose an attention and advantage in competing with the competitors. Opportunities 1 . The demand on smart- phone market is continuously increasing comparing to electronics market. Thus, Samsung should create its own software for correlative hardware devices. And then, Samsung could launch a new product with outstanding features, has its own SO, user friendly sooner than the competitors could do. 2. The demand on tablet is expected to grow in the next few years. Thus, Samsung could expand this market by launching a new innovative design and better technology quality in order to dominate the market. Threats 1 . Mobile phone market seems to be saturated in almost countries, especially in developed countries. Thus, the purchasing power might not as high as it used to be in previous years. . R&D in technology 1. Research to explore new market 2. Develop the quality of technology to be superior SO and software 4. Question 3: In the current years, Samsung is one of the biggest manufacturers in term of android smart- phone. They are also successfully in the industry of engineering to sell monitors, TV LCD, etc. Samsung has an incredible growth ate over the time to have this leader position today in the fierce market. (Kristin, L. , 2014). It might be said, 201 3 is the bright year for Samsung to have ability to own the market. However, 2014 might be the challenging year when the Conn's analysis pointed out that Samsung strategy starts revealing its weaknesses. (L an. H, 2014). Smart- phone Galaxy SO was considered as the failure of Samsung in all aspects. The Galaxy SO was blown up its capacity features to conquer all customers in over the world. However, this smart- ph one was only improved modestly in a comparison with the old version Galaxy SO. Even though the turnover for the Galaxy SO was relative high but not as high as the company's expectation.Even though Samsung is still the leader in the market of smart- phone but there is no increasing in the market share in 2013. It means that Samsung has stopped magically increasing as it used to. And the first time since 2011 , the profit of Samsung had a slight decrease in the Q of 2013. In the fierce competing race of smart- phone, while the competitors have ability to produce to a smart – phone with greater incredible features by its own operating system and software, Samsung still eve not given any sudden attack technology and outstanding product.Hence, this is the first failure in the marketing strategy of Samsung in smart- phone sector. Due to CNN analysis, Samsung is not only needed to have a strong marketing promotion but also pay much concern on the quality and outstanding features of the new product. It means that, in 2014, Samsung should set modest goals in order to achieve in certainly, avoiding the disappointment from the customers and deliver a truly changing technology mobile instead of only focus on marketing and bigger screen. Samsung and Apple are the two leaders in the racing of mobile phone industry. In practically, Samsung is the largest player in term of revenue but Apple is more profitable. Samsung targeted to the mass market when setting the price of smart phone at relative low to premium while Apple;s products are set at premium segment. The average price of Apple's products is quite higher then competitors' in smart phone industry and this leads very high margins for Apple. In 201 1, Apple Inc. Sued Samsung when claiming that Galaxy smart- phone and tablet copied from phone and pad. In final, Samsung had to pay $1 billion dollars for its compensation.Yakima, I. K. And Ian, S, 2011). This thing seriously damages to Samsung reputation and cause in d ecreasing profit in 2011. Hence, Samsung still has challenges to compete with Apple. Apple has strong and distinct band which was built for a decade, and now, has its own consumers' loyalty and advantages competitive in the exclusive mobile industry. In order to have ability to beat Apple's products and becomes a dominant in mobile industry, Samsung needs to focus on improving software and operating system. (Luke, W. 2012).A particular focus on technology and strengthen software capabilities must be implemented order to not only satisfy and maintain the current consumers but also to serve new customers' experiment. It is suggested that Samsung could plan to develop its own Bad operating system in order to serve group customers of low- end market. Besides, Doing investment in order to offer a premium product which target at high- end market, higher positioning as higher quality products providers. It helps Samsung to focus on niche market rather than set a product at medium price to serve consumers in a mass market.Besides, Samsung also pays more attention on promotion and selling campaigns for digital products such as Core Digital Technology, Pen Computing, DRAM, etc. 4. Question 4: â€Å"Internal marketing is orienting a motivating customer contact employees and supporting service people to work as a team to provide customer satisfaction. † (Phillip, K and Gary, A.. 2012). According to Burrito and Galley, the important of internal marketing is to make employees are conscious to serve customers well and reinforce their behaviors to perform efficiently.Hence, the concept of internal marketing covers the aspects of HARM, operation and marketing such as in particular: motivation, leadership, structure, delivery system and marketing management The internal arresting is used to enhance the customer focus and market orientation. Even though the term relates to marketing but it uses quite a lot of HER principles because both of the marketing and HER are dealin g with people. Since understanding the term of internal marketing, employees are should be concerned equally to customers because employees are who directly bear theÐ’Â « value to an organization. It is clearly and obviously to see the link between the employees motivation and their performances toward an organization. The higher satisfaction employees are, the better they perform in external services and the faster a company can achieve a goal. Therefore, if a company) only focuses on customers care but lack of employee's motivation, it could meet some struggles. In Samsung Corporation, incentives and welfare program are used to motivate their employees in order to better performances and satisfactions.Samsung has offered a very interesting welfare program to concern only for employees but also for their families about house, education, health and retirement. Besides, employee who has ability to perform outstanding or carry out a significant project is worth to receive an additi onal incentive. Hence, Samsung employees can live and org in the pleasant environmental. (Samsung, 1995) Base on the internal theory of internal marketing, there are some suggestions for Samsung to increase its quality of internal marketing. First of all, it is necessary to create a staff communication in order to listen to their employees' opinions and ides.Besides, it is also useful to have time for briefing every week to discuss about what has been done during a week, is there any problem that needed to be solved timely or share successful stories together. This thing is very efficiently not only in creating a friendly relationship between staff and managers gather but also timely grasp the current operating status of a company. Secondly, Samsung could give to their employee training to empower their relevant knowledge. Besides, employee motivation is always an important part. There are some theories about employee motivation such as Moscow and Herbert, given some factors to fulfi ll the satisfaction of employees. Incentives and rewards could be a positive method to motivate employees. Culture is one of the factors that affects to employee's behaviors. Employees might feel uncomfortable or comfortable due to its company environment. Business to business relationship is important to maintain success of a corporation. Business relationship management (BRB) is different from customer relationship management (CRM), but still simultaneously executes together.BRB is used to enhance the positive relationship with customers. CONCLUSION Executive Summary This paper has been done in examining the successful marketing strategy of Samsung over the past years. And then using Scots to analyze the weaknesses, threats as well as the strengths, opportunities of the company and using TOWS matrix to suggest solutions of taking its strengths and opportunities to cover its weaknesses and threats. Finally, there is a discussion about the internal marketing of Samsung. Samsung was from the modest family company to the top global corporation in this fierce market today is worth lessons for all marketers.By distinct and flexible strategy, Samsung raised its brand value to be ranked at 8th in integrand's Best Global Brands in 2013. An exclusive marketing research is employed to understand the market deeply whenever issue a strategy was effectively performed by Samsung. Personal experiment The case study of Samsung is worth to learn for every business. By observation through this case study, in personality, I could understand these following points. Firstly, every business should set clear goals in both short term and long term in order to step by step achieve them.Segmentation is needed to identify potential customers, and search for the unmet demands IR the market. It is also useful to understand the customers' behaviors in order to satisfy them as good as possible. Secondly, promotion is one of the important factors in marketing strategy. There are several way s of promotions and depend on each specific situation that we could apply a efferent promotion in order to approach the market. For instance, depend on segmented group of customers whether low-end market or high- end market, we could apply a suitable promotion.

Sociology Families

Soci 1002 Presentation Is this really true, are afro-Caribbean families dysfunctional. In addressing this point, I will examine the sociology theorist Michael Garfield smith. Smith believed that European family’s norms and values are important in one way or another to the assimilation process and plays a major role in the afro- Caribbean families. He argued that the plantation destroyed African culture and he saw the plantation as the basis on which the Caribbean family structure was formed.Smith had no doubt that the experience of previous generations on plantation has no doubt influenced the way in which subsequent generations were socialized, but he argues that over time families adjust to the present social conditions. European family norms was based mainly the nuclear family, but for afro-caribbean families there are several other types of families. These other types of afro- Caribbean families should be viewed as dysfunctional because it is not of what the European famil y norms consist of. The other types of afro-caribbean family structures are: The matrifocal family- The emergence and functioning of African slave  families was adverse to the objectives of the plantation. Family units of the slaves were very often  broken up  and males were often sold to other plantations far away while the mother and her child  were left to survive as a  unit. On the other hand, there are other factors, however, which contributed to matrifocality in the contemporary Caribbean. These include migration, imprisonment of males, crime, and male marginalization. On  the issue of male marginalization; the male on the plantation could not own property and had no family rights.Hence the marginalization of the male in the Afro-Caribbean family started on the plantation and was further influenced by the aforementioned factors in the  modern era. * The visiting union- This is a frequent occurrence in the Caribbean it is domestic unit of a woman and her children. Here the mother and her children live apart of the father but may be visited but may be visited by a mann which the mother shares a relationship with. * The common law unit- Similar to the nuclear family, however it is an ongoing bond that without legal marriage. Here the spouses are committed to each other sexually and raise children in a stable relationship.

Analysis Of Lolitas Enslavement To Humbert English Literature Essay

Analysis Of Lolitas Enslavement To Humbert English Literature Essay Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Lolita depicts the relationship between a young girl and a much older3333 man. Humbert Humbert is in his late thirties and forties throughout the book and he talks the reader through how this relationship with Lolita made him feel and how it progressed as she got older and they moved around becoming closer as the months went on. Humbert Humbert narrates the entire book and he expresses to us how Lolita was in his words, but we never hear how it was for her, her side of the story, and how she felt in reality and not just how Humber Humbert thought she felt and was. It can be seen as how he wanted to ensure the reader believed him, about how he didn’t approve himself of the relationship he had and longed for with Lolita. It also however, makes the reader wonder was Lolita in one sense a slave to Humbert in that she was trapped as his daughter and lover because she had nobody else, the novel only gives Humbert’s point of view so there is no thing saying he isn’t making up Lolita’s personality to make himself look better to the reader. Humbert Humbert begins the book with a short chapter one his love for Lolita. He claims that his love for Lolita was only so strong because he had once loved a young girl before her for one summer, Annabel. He initially comes to meet Lolita when in chapter ten he moves to New England, to the house if Mrs Haze, 342 lawn street as she extended an invitation to him when he was stuck unsure of where he’d b going   [ 1 ]   . He sees Lolita for the first time in the garden and he describes her as if she was the young girl from his past, Annabel, and in doing this he seems to of immediately fallen for Lolita. Seeing Lolita was so much like Annabel, Humbert decides to accept Mrs. Haze’s invitation to stay on at the house. As the novel progresses we learn hoe Humbert’s ‘fondness’ for Lolita grew. He describes how he used to look at her and watch her sometimes. The reader quickly learns how fascinated he was becoming with Lolita, he would go into her bedroom from time to time and touch her things to be near her, â€Å"My heart seemed everywhere at once. Never in my life – not even when fondling my child – love in France – never†Ã‚   [ 2 ]   . Lolita it seems had no idea as to what Humbert was doing. It is during this part of the book that Humber first kisses Lolita, it was just on her eyelid but to him this created agony, when describing it in the book Humbert says â€Å"never have I experienced such agony†Ã‚   [ 3 ]   . Humbert becomes increasingly close to Lolita and her mother, mainly so he can continue being around the â€Å"hot little haze†. Even though he continually tries to justify his actions the reader still has no reason to trust him because he clearly tells of his deceit and the feelings he should not be having. After Lolita leaves for camp, Humbert and Charlotte Haze get engaged, this is purely from Humbert’s point of view just another way to stay in the house without question. However while Lolita is still at camp her mother gets run over by a car swerving from a dog and she is killed. Humbert now has to go and get Lolita from camp and tell her about her mother. They go to stay in a hotel and on the way she kisses him and again in the hotel. Humbert realises he still loves her and thought of being a good father figure leaves him. Also in the novel, towards the end or Part One, Humbert and Lolita’s relationship turns clearly sexual and it makes the reader question him, and whether we can trust how he describes the affair and how he says the Lolita seduced him in the hotel and not the other way around. Could Lolita of been too young to understand what was going on, the initial advance she makes on Humbert while she was so young is also questionable, Humbert was the only one she had at this point in her life, Humbert himself says ho w it was probably nothing huge for her, just exploring and living her adolescent life. And as Simone de Beauvoir says â€Å"She is already free of her childish past, and the present seems but a time of transition; it contains no valid aims, only occupations†Ã‚   [ 4 ]   .He also tells her at the end of Part One the truth about her mother and this upsets Lolita, drawing her closer and closer to Humbert, â€Å"in the middle of the night she came sobbing into mine, and we made it up very gently. You see, she had absolutely nowhere else to go†Ã‚   [ 5 ]   .

SAM 400 UNIT 6 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

SAM 400 UNIT 6 - Essay Example These types of needs are required to be satisfied before others. On the other hand, higher needs are only important to some workers. In the hierarchy of Maslow, various needs required by any individual working are specified. The first one is the physical needs which are the basic for survival of any human. These needs entail shelter, water, sleep and oxygen among others. The other one is the safety needs as explained by Schermerhorn (Pp. 311) and they include security for any individual in a workplace. Any worker is supposed to feel safe while working and be in safe conditions by avoiding danger. Others include belonging and love need. When the safety and physiological needs of a worker is met, there emerges the need of belongingness and love. Maslow put emphasis on this need by saying that they involve receiving and giving love to workers in a workplace. According to Schermerhorn (Pp. 313), another one is esteem needs that makes an individual in a workplace to feel competent and worthy. This is by the worker being appreciated by the kind of work done. The other need in the hierarchy is self actualization need that realizes a worker’s full potential. In conclusion, the hierarchy of Maslow needs provide many ways that are useful in understanding the motivation of workers. Many business changes were proposed by Maslow so that workplaces would be more responsive to the workers needs (Schermerhorn, Pp.

Camparative Politics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Camparative Politics - Essay Example This paper examines and compares the political, economic and security system in United States with Japan and Canada. The United States is the leading military and economic power in the world, and it has an overwhelming and unrivaled global influence in the globe. Economically, United States gross domestic product is about a quarter of the total countries in the world. In addition, the country’s military expenditure is almost equivalent to the total defense budgets in the rest of the world. Besides the overwhelming economic and security influence of the United States to the rest of the world, the country plays a major role in influencing entertainment and sports industries in the globe (Dan and Robert pp56-59). Lincoln (41) traces the political and economic system in the United States to the American Revolution that separated the country from the British colonial power. United States drafted the country’s constitution in 1787, which Upham (15) attributes to the firm economic and political foundation. According to Upham (27), the constitution is the shortest in the world and it has undergone just twenty-seven amendments since it was drafted. The constitution established federal government that decentralized power in the country since its enforcement. The United States government structure comprises of three branches that exercise high level of autonomy from each other. Equally important, the constitution established a system of checks and balances, which ensures that none of the three established branches rules over the others. This system has nurtured a democratic and open society that ensures that the American citizens enjoy their constitutional rights in the country (Newman 18) The three branches of the American government include the executive, judiciary and the legislative branch. The president of the United States holds the executive

History - Research Paper Example The Minoan civilization is the oldest Greek and the oldest European civilization. Many characteristics define the Minoan civilization. One, there are palaces everywhere to be found and it stretches to the whole entire island. Every city has no walls around it. There is no fear of foreign attack and no domestic enemies of war. Every road is paved. It is during this time that the first flushable toilet is made since France in 1701 AD. The Minoan civilization is also engaged in a lot of trade and is rich and healthy. Every home has two stories. The Minoan civilization declines due to many factors. In 1628 BC, there is a massive volcanic eruption, which is two hundred miles away. The explosion and the waves destroy the Minoans’ city. It is felt from China all the way to California. By 1500 BC, the Minoans tries to rebuild their city. The problem is that they cannot rebuild because of a weakened city. In 1450 BC, the Minoan world is invaded by a civilization, the Mycenaeans. The Mycenaeans will finish off the Minoans’ world. They were the second oldest group of Greeks. In 1871 AD, Heinrich Schliemann goes and seeks the legendary city of Troy. He carries with him one book entitled Iliad written by Homer. In the same year, he goes to Western Turkey in Hissar. There he finds a gigantic mound. He begins to dig straight down and discovers nine ancient cities. Some of them are older than Troy. 1873, he states that he discovers the legendary city of Troy and he goes to search for the legendary Greek king, Agamemnon who destroys the city of Troy. He later goes to Peloponnesus in 1878 and he discovers five bodies which he thinks is the legendary king, but is not. He instead discovers the city Mycenae and the Mycenaeans. Brain Drain Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Brain Drain - Research Paper Example This research will begin with the statement that brain drain is an issue that is of a great concern to the various countries of the world. Brain drain is also referred to as human capital flight, and it depicts the emigration of educated or talented people. This movement of educated or talented people has the capability of destroying or sabotaging the economic system of a state. Â  This is mainly because the country under consideration will lack professionals who are skilled enough to transform their domestic economies. Zweig and Chen argue that this term is on most occasions used to refer to the departure of skilled professionals such as financial experts, doctors, engineers, and scientists. When these people emigrate from the country, the country is vulnerable in two major ways. At first, the country will lose a supply of skilled labor. The second method is that there will be a reduction in spending within an economy. This is because these professionals normally earn a large sum o f money, and they use this money within an economy. This ensures that there is a circulation of money within an economy. When they move outside the country, there will be a limited circulation of money, and this may cause inflation or negative economic growth within a country. The United States is one of the leading countries that normally attract professionals of all calibers. This is because the country has one of the best education systems, and it has a stable economy that would guarantee employment opportunities to these professionals.

Influence of Technology on decision making Assignment

Influence of Technology on decision making - Assignment Example First, it is the tangible category, which includes the models, blue prints, operating manuals and lastly the prototypes. Second category is the intangible. Here, technology is divided into sub categories involving the problem-solving, training method and lastly the consultancy section. Third category is high. It follows that the above represents the entire aspect of intelligent and automated technology that logically manipulate ever-powerful forces and finer matters. The fourth category is the intermediate part, which involve the following: partially and semi-automated technology that bears the mandate of manipulating medium level forces and refined matters. The fifth category is the low. Here, it is worth noting that the low category of technology in an organization involves a technology that manipulates the objects in a labor-intensive manner (Argenti, 2006.p. 5). It is pertinent top note that decision-making is a vital stage in the progress of manipulating data in a firm to acquir e the desired output. Therefore, it is pertinent for the organization to embrace technology when solving pertinent issues on decision making as stated in this essay. On other hand, decision-making is the section of the management that is integrated. In management criterion, the sound decision-making and rational is referred to as the primary function of management. It is worth noting that for any management to be successful, managers usually take in a lot of decision either consciously or subconsciously, and letter they make it core concepts in their management role (Dede, 2000.p. 2). First, according to (Argenti, 2006.p. 23) it is important to heed that manipulate of Technology on decision-making where the decisions arte made on ladders. The author goes ahead to illustrates that the above depends on the kind of technology to be employed. Therefore, the author argues that for effective analysis of decision-making, it is pertinent to correspond it with the right technology. For insta nce, if process cost and data storage has gone down, it is important to employ information in the database. Therefore, it will be easier for the managers to access the information thus making necessary decisions. The articles, written by Vannoy,& Palvia,, Argenti and also Vannoy, although they both bear different tiles the authors’ aim was to bring at home the point that the kind of technology used will affect the desired output. Some of the technology in list is the emails, wireless data transfer as well as mobile phone. The authors affirm that such technology has mad it easier for those employed to tackle the communication issue in the organization. At the same time, the article written by (Awasthi, & Varman, 2010.p. 65), involves data collection by the school of economics in London. The above school collected data about the structure of organization, which was compared to multinational firm (Dede, 2000.p. 23) as per the article written by (Christensen-Szalanski, 2010). It is evident that the above study aimed at examining the links between communication technology and the information flow in organizational structure. Thus the authors asserts that ERP a long with technology paves way for the workers to effectively solve both the production and design problems without their superior’s inputs. In addition, the researchers did conclude that it ids high time for the companies to be keen on the use of technologies. The above sentence is in regard to where decisions making should be incorporated.

CHINA'S TERMS Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

CHINA'S TERMS - Coursework Example After the objective is brought forward, rules and regulations can be easily set up and the foreign policies can be well dealt with (Tutor2u.net, 2014).  . It is usually stated that the companies might lose the market share if it decides that to let go of a new or international market. Although, the ethical and moral beliefs state differently. It is believed in their case that it is not appropriate to work alongside collective governments. In case the company decides to leave the market due to some reasons then the rival business will take the advantage and step up to get a hold of a higher market share. Entering the market later makes it harder for the companies to gain a higher market share or at times a moderate market share. I believe that the company should not transfer their technologies and hence prefer the first option that can prove to be the best for companies. The market in China is increasing in volume and is has a growing market. The companies as a result aim at protecting and safeguarding their own sales and thus, stay put to their production methods. The transfer of technology can be both time consuming and costly. China can, however, provide the company with good business but it is also true that the companies can prefer other countries to set up their production factories at, as they are only assumed to be the customers of Chinas product

Dehydrogenase in yeast Essay Example for Free

Dehydrogenase in yeast Essay During respiration, hydrogen atoms are removed from glucose molecules by enzymes called dehydrogenases and passed to various chemicals called hydrogen acceptors. As the hydrogen atoms pass from one hydrogen acceptor to another, energy is made available for chemical reactions in the cell. In this way, substances such as glucose provide energy for vital reactions in living organisms. In this experiment, a dye called methylene blue acts as an artificial hydrogen acceptor. When this dye is reduced by accepting hydrogen atoms it goes colourless. (a) Place about 30 mm of yeast suspension in a test-tube and, using a test-tube holder, heat this suspension over a small Bunsen flame until the liquid boils for about half a minute. Then cool the tube under the tap. (b) Label three test-tubes 1-3. (c) Using a graduated pipette or syringe, place 2 cm3 of the boiled yeast suspension in tube 1. (d) Using the graduated pipette or syringe, draw up 4 cm3 unboiled yeast suspension and place 2 cm3 in tube 2 and 2 cm3 in tube 3. (e) Rinse the pipette or syringe and use it to place 2 cm3 distilled water in tubes 1 and 2. (f) With the pipette or syringe, place 2 cm3 1 % glucose solution in tube 3. (g) Prepare a water bath by mixing hot and cold water from the tap to obtain a temperature between 35 and 45  °C. Place all three tubes in this water bath. Rinse the pipette or syringe. (h) Copy the table given below into your notebook. (i) After 5 minutes draw up 6 cm3 methylene blue solution in the pipette or syringe and place 2 cm3 in each tube. Shake all three tubes thoroughly and return them to the water bath, noting the time as you do so. Do not shake the tubes again. (j) Watch the tubes to see how long it takes for the blue colour to disappear, leaving the creamy colour of the yeast. A thin film of blue colour at the surface of the tube may be ignored but the tubes should not be moved. Record the times in your table. (k) The experiment may be repeated by simply shaking all the tubes again until the blue colour returns. |Tube |Contents |Time for methylene blue to go colourless Experiment 14. Discussion 1 Why was distilled water added to tubes 1 and 2? 2 What causes the methylene blue solution to go colourless (according to the introduction on p. 14.01)? 3 How do you explain the results with tube 1? 4 In which of tubes 2 and 3 was the methylene blue decolourized more rapidly? How can this result be explained? 5 If the hydrogen atoms for the reduction of methylene blue come from  glucose, why should the methylene blue in tube 2 become decolourized at all? 6 What do you think would be the effect of increasing the glucose concentration in tube 3? Explain your answer. 7 How could you extend the experiment to see if enzymes in yeast are capable of reducing methylene blue? 8 Why, do you think, the colour retuned on shaking the tubes? Experiment 14. Dehydrogenase in yeast preparation Outline Methylene blue, acting as a hydrogen acceptor, is decolourized during the respiration of yeast. Addition of small amounts of substrate increases the rate of decolourization. Prior knowledge An elementary idea of respiration as a process which releases energy during the breaking down of carbohydrates; yeast is a microscopic living organism. Advance preparation and materials-per group 20% yeast suspension* 0.005% methylene blue solution+ (prepared 1~2 days ahead) 10 cm3 1 % glucose solution distilled water 10 cm3 Apparatus-per group test-tube rack and 4 test-tubes Bunsen burner 3 labels or spirit marker graduated pipette or syringe 5-10cm3 test-tube holder beaker or jar, for water to rinse pipette or syringe -per class clock Result The methylene blue: in tubes 2 and 3 should be decolourized in a few minutes with tube 3 changing first. * Add 40 g dried yeast and 0.4 g potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) to 200 cm3 distilled water in a tall 600 cm3 (or larger) beaker (a large jam jar will do). Cover the mouth of the container with aluminium foil and bubble air through the yeast suspension for one or two days using an aquarium aerator. Observe the suspension from time to time during the first two hours and control the air flow to prevent the yeast suspension frothing out of the jar. +Dissolve 0.05 g in 1 litre of distilled water. Methylene blue stains skin and clothing. Lab coats should be worn Experiment 14. Discussion answers 1 The addition of distilled water to tubes 1 and 2 keeps the concentration of yeast and methylene blue the same in all three tubes. 2 The methylene blue accepts hydrogen atoms removed from glucose molecules during respiration. The reduced form of methylene blue is colourless. 3 Boiling will have killed the yeast. Dead yeast is therefore incapable of carrying out one or more stages in the transfer of hydrogen from glucose to methylene blue. (A similar answer may be given in terms of enzymes.) 4 Tube 3 will probably lose its blue colour first. Presumably if the hydrogen atoms for reducing methylene blue come from glucose, additional glucose will mean that more hydrogen atoms are available and decolourization will be more rapid. 5 Respiration will continue in yeast cells, using their own carbohydrate reserves such as glycogen. 6 It might be expected that increasing the glucose concentration would increase the rate of decolourization up to the point where all the available enzyme or enzymes were being used, or where the concentration of glucose was sufficient to plasmolyse the yeast cells. 7 If enzymes (dehydrogenases) are involved, it should be possible to extract them from yeast by grinding some dried yeast with sand and distilled water, and filtering. This could be the subject of further experiment, particularly if little or none of the carbohydrate reserve in yeast comes through in the filtrate. 8 Shaking the tubes introduces more oxygen which re-oxidises the methylene blue
